How do I make Baked Brie?

You need just 3 ingredients for this easy baked brie recipe:

  • Roasted Salted Almonds
  • Honey
  • 8 ounce round of Brie cheese
  • and optional herbs for added seasoning, if desired!

I like to use either these lightly salted almonds:

or these Honey Roasted almonds. They work equally well in this recipe, so justgo with whichever flavor you prefer!

First, place the brie on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees F. Keep an eye on it, because you want it soft, but you don’t want to forget about it and wind up with a melted pile of goo in your oven!

While the cheese cools for a few minutes, you can prepare the warm topping. Simply heat the honey and herbs in a small saucepan over low heat until warm. Stir in the chopped almonds, and then spoon the honey mixture over the warm baked brie. Garnish with additional herbs, if desired!

What goes with Baked Brie?

This baked brie recipe without pastry is perfect on top of a sliced baguette, but you can also serve it with crackers. If you’re like my grandmother, you ALWAYS have brie during the holidays, along with a glass of wine and some Table Water crackers!

Garnish the cheeseboard with Candied Pecans, some fresh fruit such as grapes or figs, and don’t forget the 3-Ingredient Cranberry Orange Sauce on the side. A dollop of cranberry sauce along with a slice of the warm Brie is basically heaven in your mouth!

Oh, and you might just want to have some extra honey on hand for drizzling…it’s always a good idea, in my opinion! This is truly the best baked brie recipe!!

COOK’S TIPS AND RECIPE VARIATIONS – BAKED BRIE RECIPE:

  • Keep an eye on your brie as it’s baking. You want it to be soft, but you don’t want an oozing mess!
  • I light the salted roasted almonds, but you can substitute with other chopped nuts if you prefer. Pecans or walnuts would also be delicious!
  • Use a high-quality, flavorful honey. Since this recipe only requires 3 ingredients, you want those ingredients to be flavorful and the best.
  • This appetizer is best served while it’s still warm, so prepare it just before you’re ready to enjoy! But don’t worry — the brie will still be tasty at room temperature, so there’s no harm in leaving it out during your party.

How to keep baked brie from leaking? ›

2. Baked Brie Baking dish – the most practical way to bake / serve brie is if you have a shallow round ovenproof dish that is slightly larger than the brie. This will stop the cheese from oozing out everywhere when people start eating it but it needs to be shallow otherwise you'll burn your fingers trying to scoop it!

Can you overbake brie? ›

Be careful not to overbake the brie. The cheese can go from a melty lava-like texture to hard in the middle if it's in the oven for too long. Always bake on a piece of parchment paper as you will use it to transfer the brie from the baking sheet to your serving tray.

How to tell when baked brie is done? ›

It may be a turnoff but it's a consequence of aging, especially for bloomy-rind cheeses like Brie. As these cheeses ripen, their surface molds break down protein into amino acids and one byproduct of that breakdown is ammonia.

Which jam goes with brie? ›

Jam - personally, I love the flavour of brie cheese with fig fruit jam, it goes so well with the savoury and sweet flavours. However, you can use absolutely any jam you like! A few of my favourite varieties include: blackberry, boysenberry, apricot or cherry jam.

How do the French eat brie? ›

The French will traditionally serve Brie with baguette or another crusty bread that won't compete with the cheese. Plain crackers are another convenient choice that won't detract from the cheese.

Should I eat the rind on brie? ›

Not only can you eat the rind, you should eat the rind. Technically, the rind is mold, usually Penicillium candidum, but it's good mold! The rind protects the cheese on the inside and helps to give the cheese its flavor. You're missing out on a big part of the flavor and textural experience if you do not eat the rind.

Does the cheese skin stay on when serving baked brie? ›

In this baked brie recipe, I do not remove the rind because I need the surface to spread my jam and to add my beautiful nuts and toppings. The rind keeps the wheel of cheese together, and once you take it out of the oven and slice into it, all the gooey deliciousness oozes out like a nice surprise!

Are you supposed to unwrap brie? ›

Take the brie out of the freezer once it's completely hardened and remove the plastic wrap. Using a serrated knife, carefully slice off both circular ends of the brie, then lay the brie flat on the cutting board and carefully slice the rind off the sides.

Is the rind on brie wax? ›

That marshmallowy white stuff on the outside of your brie is called a bloomy rind. These cheeses are coated with edible molds, such as Penicillium candidum. The cheeses ripen from the outside-inwards. Sometimes, a seductive gooey layer called the “creamline” forms around the fudgy interior.

Are you supposed to eat the rind on cheese? ›

In fact, the question here shouldn't be “can” I eat the rind, more like “should” I eat the rind, because (unless the cheese is coated with an inedible substance like wax or cloth), rinds are totally safe to eat. At the end of the day, it really comes down to your personal preference.
