If Amazon hires internally an operates it's own maintenance is smart since it already has the structure an management in place to function.2 years of school is not enough for a line maintenance position unless they teach directly to that aircraft type 767 or 737 so they understand most of the systems that require to be deferred or inhibited. Gen Fam Training 80hr course principals of troubleshootingsystems & avionics troubleshooting on the job training OJT Evaluating skills monthly simply using quality control or lead techs to train individuals working aircraft will limit incidents. Even the safety team can challenge anything that raises concerns safety is everyone's job.I could go on for a while but some quick key points that keep issues like CVG from happening all the time.

Amazon should seek the highest quality of training as well as the most experienced instructors who can pass on their knowledge and expertise that is missing out there now creating havoc in the industry.Train the trainer is Amazons best option

We believe in enabling thousands of #students to explore both sides of aviation, so they can connect with whichever path is most appropriate and fulfilling for them. We need both. As I say mentioned in The Irish Times article about MROs, more emphasis needs to be given on apprenticeships, but also upskilling and reskilling existing employees in all positions. Full article here: https://lnkd.in/gqGH3xAU

During National Apprenticeship Week, we're highlighting interesting career paths that don't necessarily require a 4-year degree. Pilots, for example, are in high demand with the global aviation industry expected to be short nearly 80,000 pilots by 2032, according to an analysis by #OliverWyman. What's the difference between an airline and commercial pilot, and how much can you expect to earn? Find out in our latest newsletter. https://lnkd.in/g8nE4x_b

So you want to be an aircraft mechanic, but you aren't sure where to start. Before you get two far, there are two things you need to ask yourself: are you 18-years-old? Can you speak, write, read and understand English? If the answers to both of those questions are yes, then it's time to decide whether you should go to an FAA-approved Aviation Maintenance Technician school (like Thrust Institute of Maintenance), or find an apprenticeship to earn 30 months of experience before you can earn your A&P license. #ThrustMaintenance #AircraftMechanic #TradeSchool

This week's Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) Transport News Brief lead comment, Investing in the futureRecruitment of a skilled and semi-skilled workforce continues to be a challenge throughout the industry.Figures from the Institute of the Motor Industry show that we face a potential shortage of 25,000 TechSafe technicians by 2032, while more immediately, attracting new apprentices remains challenging. It’s a mission we need to solve. As we pick up the pace on the number of zero emission vehicles, hitting UK roads we will need to develop the workforce of the future to maintain high voltage vehicles. And manufacturers are playing their part – it’s been good to see updates on the graduation ceremonies that have taken place over the last few months for heavy vehicle technicians, who will be the leaders of tomorrow.Upskilling and reskilling are imperative to delivering net zero, automated technologies and supply chain and aftermarket productivity. It’s vital that the potential talent pool is as broad as possible, meaning it is crucial to take action on breaking down any barriers people may face in pursuing a rewarding career in the sector. As part of that, SMMT has recently launched Drive to Thrive, which provides funding grants for up to ten UK automotive apprentices to help fund car driving lessons and ultimately secure a license, with all the benefits that brings. The scheme, run in partnership with automotive charity BEN and the SMMT Charitable Trust Fund and aims to support people aged 17 to 21 years old from disadvantaged and minority backgrounds, as they begin their career in the automotive industry.Looking ahead to next year, SMMT will continue to shine a spotlight on the essential role apprentices play in keeping the country on the move. Our Apprentice Showcase Reception during National Apprenticeship Week will provide apprentices to share their experiences first-hand with Parliamentarians, within the halls of power themselves. And of course, we will continue to work with government to develop ever more effective methods to attract top talent and help employers invest in their next generation. The automotive sector is a powerhouse of growth, sustaining almost a million jobs. Together, let’s make sure we continue to deliver on our ability to create careers – while also delivering the essential net zero transition that will benefit the entire country.Photo credit: Scania UK Apprentice Graduation.

📰 This week the FMCSA released stats on applications and rejections for the Under-21 Truck Driver Apprenticeship Program. I was surprised by how few applications were received (113) and how few were accepted - only 34 applications, or 30%, were accepted.🧒 👧 Though in the current market, drivers are not as hard to come by, generating opportunities for young drivers should still be a priority. However, the lack of applications seems to indicate otherwise. I am intrigued to learn more about what is behind these figures. Is it driven by the current market 📉 , the safety restrictions imposed by insurers 📜 , the lack of interest from younger generations 😴 or a combination?Would love to get my trucking network's though on this. #driverrecruiting #driverretention #trucking #transportation #drivershortage #DoubleNickelhttps://lnkd.in/eiM2PPgw

**Disclaimer: The following are my thoughts and not that of the company I work for.**I do not think I will ever understand the need for the apprenticeship program, but I support it nonetheless. Why can an 18-year-old driver haul freight from San Diego, CA to Redding, CA, but cannot haul freight from San Diego, CA to Phoenix, AZ because they cross a line on a map? Why can they operate heavy equipment in a combat zone, but not on a highway in the desert? It has never made sense to me. Considering all the safety enhancements that modern class 8 trucks are equipped with, and the increasing amount of technology that is being utilized in the trucking industry, I think younger drivers would be a welcome fit.

Time does fly... Last week I wrapped up my Cat A1 modules at IAA-N, and we're onto the next adventure! At the moment I have been fortunate enough to land some apprenticeship interviews, and (hopefully) exciting times are ahead! For now, I'm beginning self study the Cat B1.3 modules to continue my journey down the rotary pathway. I'm planning to continue working on this until I land an apprenticeship or job. The road so far has been absolutely incredible, with completing my modules and continuing work experience. But also very bumpy, currently I am stuck in a loop! - Being overqualified for most apprenticeships but too young for the majority of industry related jobs or advanced level courses (for most, you have to be 18+ to apply, but not all! Staying optimistic.) What's even more amazing is looking back at the bottom two photos - taken when I was still doing my GCSEs and had no idea how far I'd come in the coming year! It has been challenging and I'm aware it will continue to be, but I'm enjoying jumping over every hurdle. Bring it on! #engineering #helicopter #education #chopper #futureengineer #mechanic #aviation #engineer #career #rotary #thenextgeneration #rosietheengineer
